01 · What working together looks like

Four shapes we usually start from.

The actual shape always bends to the situation. These are honest starting points so you can tell, before the first email, whether one of them is roughly right.

Fixed fee

Strategy session

One day · A half-day or full-day, one specific question, one specific decision.

Fits when

  • You have a decision that needs to be made this week, and you want a second pair of eyes before you make it.
  • You want to test a strategy out loud with someone who will be honest with you and has been close to similar decisions.

Includes

  • A short pre-read so the day is spent on the actual question, not on context-loading.
  • A focused session with you and one or two of the people closest to the decision.
  • A short written summary of where we landed, and the open questions worth sitting with.

Listening week

About a week · Five days. We listen, I take notes, you think. At the end: a short written diagnosis of what is actually wrong, and what to do first.

Fits when

  • Something underneath feels wrong and you want a specific name for it before you act.
  • You are tempted to redesign and want to know whether that is actually the right move.

Includes

  • A week of conversations with you, your team, and a few of your users.
  • Quiet observation in your tools — Slack, Figma, your roadmap, your last decisions.
  • A short written diagnosis with the parts I would change, the parts I would not, and a defensible order to do them in.

Diagnostic and design

8 to 12 weeks · A diagnostic followed by design work — interfaces, systems, flows.

Fits when

  • The diagnostic landed and the design work that follows is now well-shaped.
  • You want one person responsible end-to-end — research, decisions, design, handoff.

Includes

  • Everything from the listening week.
  • The design work itself — usually 6 to 10 weeks of focused engagement.
  • A handoff your team can defend without me in the room: artefacts, decisions, and the reasoning behind each.

Monthly

Mentorship

Ongoing · Recurring conversations with designers thinking about their own practice.

Fits when

  • You are a designer thinking about your career or your craft rather than a product question.
  • You want a steady thinking partner more than a one-off intervention.

Includes

  • Recurring sessions, biweekly or monthly.
  • Async notes between sessions when something specific comes up.
  • A relationship that compounds rather than resets each time.

If none of these are quite the shape you need, that is also useful information.

Write anyway — sometimes the shape shows up in the first conversation.
